Why I Built a Community Instead of Another AI Course

July 1, 2026 · Jess Pischel

I didn't build the Human First AI Collective because people needed another place to learn about AI. There's no shortage of courses, webinars, and how-to videos out there already.

I built it because I kept having the same conversation over and over.

A leader would leave a workshop excited. They'd start using ChatGPT for a week or two, maybe automate one small task. Then life would get busy. The tools would update. A new use case would come up that the workshop never covered. And with no one to ask, the momentum would quietly fade.

That's not a motivation problem. It's a structure problem. One training session isn't enough anymore, because AI is changing too fast for a single workshop to cover it. What worked in January can look outdated by June. The leaders who actually stick with AI are the ones who have somewhere to keep asking questions after the training ends.

So instead of building another course, I built a room. A place where business owners and leaders show up regularly, share what's actually working in their businesses, and troubleshoot the stuff that never made it into a slide deck.

Our founding members already represent real estate, finance, healthcare, marketing, and hospitality. Different industries, same core challenge: how do you actually put AI to work without losing the people-first way you run your business? Hearing how a healthcare leader solved a documentation headache can spark an idea for someone running a marketing team, even though the two businesses look nothing alike on paper.

That's what a community gives you that a course can't: somewhere to bring the question you have next month, not just the one you had on the day you signed up.
